Growing Together in our Faith

If i am thankful for one thing in our move to Cedar Falls, I am thankful for our church and the small group we are a part of. Brad and I had a wonderful church in Greenville, but we hadn't quite gotten into a small group ~ it didn't help that we joined the church in January 2012 and then had to move!

We love our church, Prairie Lakes. It has been one of the greatest blessings we've had this year. We joined in February, started volunteering the next month, and joined our small group in August. Best. decision. of. our. lives. Our small group is made up of 7 couples (as of tonight!). All of the couples are married, some have kids, and everyone is our age. It's amazing to see what God has brought together and how we are already forming amazing relationships and growing in our faith together! God is good!

We started out with 5 couples. A few weeks in, one of our neighbors joined the group and brought us up to 6 couples. Oh yea, I almost forgot! 3 of us couples (including Brad and I) live within houses of each other! Love it! The rest of our group lives within 10 minutes of our neighborhood.

Right now, our church, as well as all of the small groups are reading, "The Challenge." We are reading and journal-ing our way through the entire New Testament in 10 weeks. It's a lot of reading each week, but we are loving all of the discussion that has been started with our reading.

Tonight we welcomes another couple into our group. They are newer believers and recently moved here from Minnesota. Tonight we took the time to welcome them, give our testimonies and God stories, and get to know the new couple more. They are wonderful and we are so excited to have them!

I made a cake for tonight (someone usually brings a snack) and I had a new recipe I wanted to try ~ Pumpkin Dream Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Icing. Ummm...I think this might be one of my top 3 cakes now! A-ma-zing!! It was a 3 layer cake and I'm pretty sure almost all of it was eaten! I will definitely be making this again. Thank you Pinterest!

Between the yummy snacks, the strong relationships we are building, and the light God is shining in our lives, I'd say that we are quite blessed in this group.
