Bumpdate ~ Week 12

Week 12 was the most exciting week we've had so far!

1) We made it through the "high risk" part of the pregnancy.
2) We had our 12 week appointment this week.
3) We got to announce to our family and friends this weekend!

Getting to this point was not the easiest though...
As I've said before, we were basically on pins and needles through the first 12 weeks of our pregnancy. First of all, the doctor told me that my body fat percentage was too low for it to be conducive for a pregnancy. Well, I've eaten clean and trained hard my whole life, so I guess that makes sense that my body fat was so low. The hard part...not being able to work out and change my thinking to gain weight?! Yikes. That was a mental and physical battle all by itself. Second, I have zero hormones...we kind of new I might have this problem since my momma did as well. At least we knew what to look for when we went to the doctor. My progesterone...0.04. Yep, that can actually happen. In August, after I had actually ovulated (thank you fertility medicine!), the doctor's office called to tell me my progesterone was up to 4.0. That was better, but they wanted it above 10. Sigh... Well, guess what. Our little miracle was in there already growing. I found out about this little peanut about a week later! Surprise!! (along with a million other emotions!) For the above reasons, my pregnancy was considered high risk. My chances of having a miscarriage were very high, so for us to get to 12 weeks with no problems?...that was all Jesus. I thank and praise him every day for carrying us through the hard part, blessing us, and helping calm my fears and worries for the past 12 weeks. God is so good. I can only praise Him!

As you can see, this appointment was looooong awaited! When the day finally came, I was almost sick to my stomach with worry and anxiousness. Would they find the heartbeat? Was baby still growing? Was baby still going to make it? My hubby is amazing...he held my hand the whole way through it and kept telling me that God gave us this baby and no matter what happened, God was going to bless us. He's the best.

We finally got to start our appointment and the first thing we did was the sonogram. Brad let our nurse know that I was worried about her being able to find the heartbeat. She laughed and said, I've been doing this for many years! Don't worry!" I climbed on the table and waited.........within seconds, there was our sweet baby's heartbeat. It brought tears to my eyes right away. Our baby's heartbeat was a strong 164 bpm. Thank you Lord!! Once we heard that, I couldn't wait until we got our ultra sound so that I could SEE our precious lil' bit!

The ultrasound did not disappoint either! Our lil' bit was wiggling all around and measured at 13 weeks and 3 days!! Even better! Since baby was measuring larger, my due date could be April 23rd...we shall see when baby decides to come! We got several pictures of our little on as well as watching baby curl up and then push his/he little legs straight up and straighten all the way out! It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life!! Brad and I were 100% focused on that screen the entire time and I'm pretty sure we had the biggest grins on our faces! This was definitely one of the best days of our lives! Our doctor told us that everything was perfect and that we were out of the scary part now. She also gave me the go-ahead to work out!!! Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!! See? Best. Day.
_______________________________________________________
  • Week 12
  • Baby is the size of a : plum
  • Weight :  0.49 oz. / Length : 2.13 in.
  • Baby's liver and spleen are now working and the liver weighs about 10% of baby's weight. The muscular and nervous systems are responding so baby can bend, stretch, kick, and even makes faces!
Gender: This week, I have been feeling like baby is a boy. I had another boy baby dream, so that's probably why!

Weight Gain: At my 12 week appointment, I was at 10 pounds weight gain since early July. Not too shabby for someone telling me to gain weight!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Not too much has changed, I still have the normal pregnancy symptoms: nausea, soreness, achy back, visits to the restroom at night, exhaustion, etc.

Clothing:  I started using the BeBand at week 10 and I am pretty sure I am going to try to get some maternity clothes coming up soon! My shirts are fine, but my pants are only wearable with the BeBands!

Food Cravings: Still none..although, homemade Mexican is usually "somewhat" appealing.

Food Aversions: A lot of things still do not sound good! I still can't even be near coffee in the mornings, sweet or greasy food does not sound good, vegetables still gross me out, raw meat makes me gag, I can barely get down some oven breaded chicken at night (thank you hubby for helping me force that down by reminding me that the baby needs "Protein!"), and food is still being forced down. Sometimes I don't have to "force" it down, but eating when you're feeling sick is NOT easy. Hopefully, I will start feeling better soon!

Movement: I don't feel anything, even though I know our baby is wiggling and kicking inside me!

Sleep: I still love and value my sleep. I have cut back on the naps, mostly because we have been so busy. Sleeping in on the weekends is definitely one of my favorite things to do! and the hubs is so sweet. He lets me sleep as late as I want and keeps the pups out of our room and quiet so that I can! I am one lucky girl!

Best Moment So Far: Hearing our lil' bit's heartbeat and seeing him/her wiggle and kick! What a relief!!

Looking Forward to: Feeling our baby's wiggles!

Diet: I have been trying my best to eat clean, like we normally do. I have had many extra cheat meals (trying to gain weight) and have added a lot of whole grain breads/crackers to my diet. I eat 3 eggs for breakfast with a slice of whole wheat toast, a glass of light juice, greek yogurt for a snack, protein and whole grains for lunch, fruit for snacks with whole wheat crackers, whole wheat toast before the gym with a glass of organic milk, and some kind of protein for dinner (every now and then I can get some broccoli down with it). I have really tried hard to increase my water too!

Exercise: I have been limited to walking on the treadmill since the beginning of August...*blah*. At least it's something!! Now that I've been cleared for working out again...we shall see what I come up with!! Woohoo!

This is one proud momma right here!
