Bishop Weekend Shenanigans

January 10 - 12, 2014
It was only a 3 day work week for me (Monday and Tuesday were snow days for me!), but I was definitely looking forward to the weekend. This weekend we finished up (mostly) our Baby Registry!! Whew!
We are registered at:

Talk about overwhelming and slightly stressful. What brand should we get? What do we need? Do we need everything on these checklists that I found? Why is everything so expensive? What brands are quality but don't cost a fortune?? Yep, like I said...overwhelming. However, we read our reviews, made some decisions, and had some fun with our registry.

Friday night was the perfect night for dinner (sushi - don't worry, mine is fully cooked) and a movie. Home date night!

Saturday, we drove down to Des Moines to finish our registry at Babies R Us. We had started our registry at Target here in town, but their selection is pretty limited and Des Moines is the closest full Babies R Us store. So off we went! When we got there, the hubs was most excited about this...

I have refused to park in these spaces...I like the walk! but since this was for our baby registry, we figured it was part of the experience! And the hubs has stated several times that, "Before you were pregnant, I saw a million of these, open, everywhere. Now that you're pregnant, I never see them and if I do, someone is parked in it! Come on!" Haha bless his heart.

It didn't take us too long to get everything we needed on our registry and we were both so glad we made the trip! Very much well worth it. We even found Baby's D's coming home outfit!! It. is. precious! Can't wait!!

Saturday was finished up with a trip to the gym, one of our favorite take-home dinner's from Tony's (the hubs gets the pizza and I get the create-your-own salad) and a movie.
This is what I crave...constantly.
Sunday we got up early for church because we had nursery duty. Church, grocery shopping, afternoon naps, gym, food-prep for the week, followed by some cuddle time after our Sunday night traditional dinner. Busy day!! Yep, I took a gym pic. 25 weeks prego and still hittin' the squats. Yeah, buddy!

Here's to another weekend!

Bishop Weekend Shenanigans [V. 4]

It's been quite some time since I've written a weekend shenanigan. It's not that we haven't had any...I've just been on a blogging "slow down." So here it is...

Friday...we met a couple, Kai and Tina, at Montage in downtown CF. Montage is one of our favorite restaurants here. Brad knows Kai from John Deere. Tina and I had met briefly at the gym, but we wanted to get together with them. Kai and Tina are from Germany and they are in the US for 2 years while Kai works at the Deere plants over here. They were such a fun couple and we learned so much about Germany and the German culture. Since my family has some German history in it, I was especially excited to learn more about it! Now...we just need to get to Germany some day!

Saturday...we worked on house projects. I cleaned, baked, and worked on some decorating and DIY projects. Brad worked on my shoe shelves and hung my rods for my statement necklaces! Bless him. Later that afternoon and night we picked up some dinner and watched tons of football.

Sunday...we went to church, went to the gym, I cooked some more and Brad kept working on my shoe shelves. They're almost done!! and they are looking awesome. My sweet hubby. We kept up our Sunday night traditions by making chicken quesadillas and watching a movie! Perfect weekend in my books.

Top: Abe, my 80 lb. cuddle bug / how the hubs fell asleep...
Bottom: Clemson love-handsome hubby / ick cold weather / statement necklaces all hung up!

Bishop Weekend Shenanigans [V. 3]

Friday...we packed up after work and headed down to the Quad Cities! Again. We stopped in Iowa City to pick up my ring (my center stone was loose!!) and got to the Quad Cities around 9 pm. Beth, Gene and their friends flew in from Punta Cana Friday night as well and we all turned in as soon as we could!

Saturday...we were up at 6:30 am getting ready to run the 2013 Bix-7! We ate a quick breakfast and headed out the door. There were so many people there! We ran our 7 miles, hills and all, in 1 hour and 8 minutes! That was the best race we have ever run! It was soooo much fun!!

After the race, we "laid" out at the pool (in pants and sweatshirts! it was like 65 degrees...in July), played bags, and grilled out with the Rents. Brad and I, Beth and Gene, and their friends all stayed at the Rents house all weekend, so we had a full house! Sometime in the afternoon, all 8 of us started playing this card game...it was called, "Cards Against Humanity." Holy. Cow. Never in my life have I played a game like this. Oh my stars. What a night! We had so much fun playing this game (with a lot of embarrassed blushing) we ended up ordering pizza and playing all night! Bless.
Brad and I at the Bix-7 / tons of people / Gene and Abe!! bless
Sunday...we headed home. I spent the afternoon working on my LAST Masters project. We ran a few errands and then went to our last volleyball game with team, "Served it Like a Boss." It was a clean sweep game, 3-0! Woohoo!

This was definitely a memorable weekend!!

Bishop Weekend Shenanigans [V. 2]

July 19-21, 2013

This weekend was filled with homework, Mexican, margs, mini golf, and precious time with family and the hubs. I love my man.

Friday...after the hubs and I got home from work we worked out, stopped at the Wild Hare and split a wrap, and then enjoyed some 4 Queens ice cream. We ended up sitting on the couch, eating our ice cream and laughing and talking till we went to bed. That is one thing that I love about us. We are best friends and always have good conversation and laughs when we are together. He's awesome.

Saturday...the hubs had to go into work, so I went for an early morning run and then finished up some homework. When Brad got home we packed up and headed down to the Quad Cities to visit the Rents. Momma B has a pool and we were needing some sun time and some family time. *Sigh*...I love summer...and laying in the sun...and tans...and the sun... It was glorious. I'm pretty sure this summer is the whitest I have EVER been in my life. It's a little depressing. When summer hits and I get in the sun...I usually turn just about black. Well, not so much when you live in Iowa and it's winter until May.... Anywho...we enjoyed the sun and the pool!

After we cleaned up from the pool we went to Momma B's favorite Mexican restaurant, Azteca. This place holds lots of memories! We ordered the jumbo margs (they were the special!) and ate lots of yummy food. Then it was off to mini golf. We had quite a night mini-golfing! The infamous raccoon even reappeared...
Want to know who won this golf game??? That would this THIS GIRL! Boom.
After golf, we got Froyo and then played games until about 1 am. What a night!

Sunday...the dogs woke me up at 6:30 am...Why? oh why?? They were restless, so I took them outside, sat by the pool and read my pd (profession development) book while the pups wandered and played in the yard. It was such a nice morning and I enjoyed the quiet time. Mom and Dad Bishop got up later and we ate and had some coffee. Brad finally woke up and after spending the morning together, we all said our goodbyes.
Brad and I headed home, dropped the pups off and then went straight to our sand volleyball game. We won 3-0. Holla! Team "Served it Like a Boss" killed it! After volleyball I spent the rest of the night doing homework (big surprise) and Brad mowed. The joys of having a yard!!! (no sarcasm there...)

I love my life. :) I am one happy girl.

Bishop Weekend Shenanigans [V. 1]

Since this little blog is my "online journal" of our lives and since the weekends usually always hold some good memories, I decided to start writing about our weekends. Even if it's a quiet weekend spent at home with the hubs and the pups, I want to cherish and remember all of those sweet memories!

July 12-14, 2013

On Friday...the hubs and I both took off the afternoon so that we could head down to Des Moines early and go shopping. (That shopping part was his idea and I was not about to complain!) He wanted "some polos that fit" and I needed some more summer shirts...now that it is actually warm in Iowa.

We got there later than we expected, so we went right to the Jordan Creek Mall and shopped! Mission accomplished. The cheesecake factory was attached to the mall, so we stopped in there for some dinner. We had crab dip, spicy chicken sandwich (me), macaroni hamburger (Brad), sweet potato fries, and we ordered 2 pieces of cheesecake to go: chocolate fudge cake cheesecake and red velvet cheesecake (my favorite). Delish. We went to our hotel with all of our goodies, enjoyed the hot-tub, and turned in early.
shopping goodies...black and white, turquoise, and green!
On Saturday...we had to get up early (6:30 am) to get to the Color Run with a 9 am start time! I ran the Color Run with my friend Kate and her sister Kara. We accomplished that mission as well...get drenched in color! See more about out Color Run and a free tip here. After the run ended (well, when we got done) it was already 11:30 am!! That took a while. Brad and I grabbed some lunch and headed home. When we got home, I cleaned up, made some fruit pizza cups, and we headed out to Jessup to Kate and Ryan's house for Jessup Farmer's Days. We cooked out at their house and then they headed out to the tents. Brad and I had to be up early, so we went home instead.

On Sunday...it was Brad and I's week to serve in our church nursery. We work in the 12-18 month old room. We had about 7 kids at the 9 am service and they were all sooooo good! No one cried and we had a good time. I think Brad is starting to like this...at least, he's getting really good at it! After church we did our usual grocery shopping and food prep for the week. The rest of my afternoon was spent doing homework for the 5 (yes, you read that correctly, 5!!) classes that I am taking...this month! We had a sand volleyball game at 6 pm, so we headed out to the courts and like our team name, "Served it Like a Boss." We won. Woo! Brad and I picked up some pizza and some Froyo and enjoyed a relaxing evening.

Overall...happy. I am one lucky girl.
