Connecticut!

Whew! We have a very well traveled baby. Last weekend we were in Colorado and this weekend we traveled to Connecticut. My mom's side of the family lives there and we wanted everyone to meet Baby Dayton. I was especially excited for my Papa to meet Dayton, since Dayton's middle name (Thomas)  is after him. Papa is 90 years old and Dayton is his first great-grandson. You see, my mom's side of the family is aaaall girls. All of them. Well, except for my uncle Tom. All of the other boys have been married in. So Dayton was kind of a big deal. :)

We started our travels on Saturday afternoon with 2 flights, from Cedar Rapids to New York Laguardia. Dayton did great on both flights! I nursed him as we took off and then he slept through the flights and the landings. He was a gem. Whew! My mom and my sister picked us up and we headed to my Aunt's house so that we could see Papa. It was a little later, so we didn't stay for too long. Brad, Dayton, and I stayed at my cousin Jenna's house which is right down the road from my Aunt's house.

Sunday we knew the family was coming over, but when we walked in the door everyone yelled, "Surprise!" We just kind of looked at them confused. Haha it was a surprise baby shower! We spent the rest of the day with the whole family and had a great time showing off our little man.

On Monday we took a trip to the beach! It was a gorgeous day and the first time that little man has been to the beach. He slept basically the whole time. Sleepy man. We sure enjoyed it though - even though it was a New England beach. :) It was still the beach!

On Tuesday, we were up early and getting ready for our trip to the city - New York city that is. The hubs, the babe, and I took a train from town to Grand Central Station. It was my first time and Dayton's first time on a train! This was also my first time in New York City. Grand Central station looked just like I imagined it. We walked a few blocks out to Time Square and spent a few hours walking around and experiencing "New York" things. We took a subway, hailed a cab, and enjoyed our little family adventure. It was a pretty warm day, but the babe was a champ in his carrier and we caught the train home in time for dinner with the fam.

Wednesday morning it was time to say goodbye to everyone. This is the part I hate the most. It's always so hard for me to say goodbye to my Papa. I never know if it will be my last. It makes me tear up every single time. He's my Papa. I love him to pieces! Saying goodbye to my family is never easy. That's the hardest part about living so far away from everyone. At least I know I will be seeing my parents and sister in less than a month! That made saying goodbye a little easier this go around.

We left New York around 1 pm and had to fly to Houston, Chicago, and then Cedar Rapids. What. a. day. Dayton did really well though! We had several people comment on what a quiet, good baby he was. Whew! He did fuss a little more than the previous flights, but my ears were popping waaaay more than usual so we think that was what was bothering him. Poor baby boy. Like I said before, traveling with an infant? Easy peasy. I would recommend it to anyone!

It was a great trip, even though it was short. We were so happy to see family and spend time with everyone. Another vacation full of memories. I love you all so much! and miss you every day. Here are a few pictures we took right before we left! Priceless.
