This Mother's Day weekend, we wanted to keep things fairly simple and just spend time together. Friday night we had some friends over for dinner (Amanda is pregnant with their first) and found out that our babies won't be having an arranged marriage because Amanda and Shawn are also having a boy!!
On Saturday, we drove down to Cedar Rapids to spend the day with Beth & Gene and Grandma & Grandpa Bishop. The boys were outside most of the day painting the B&G's house and the ladies were inside enjoying some girl time and baby time. Momma B got her Mother's Day presents and some grandma time. After we left, the hubs and I went to Granite City for dinner - one of our favorites - and had a Mother's Day dinner. Dayton was very much asleep the whole time, but we enjoyed a nice date night!
On Sunday, the weather was gross. It looked like this most of the day. Boo.
However, we did enjoy a very relaxing day as a family of 3! My Mother's Day was spent feeding my baby, changing poopy diapers, snuggling, and cooking/baking. That's reality for ya. Dayton and I did get to snuggle while he took a nap and the hubs went to the gym. He did offer to let me go to the gym, but I turned him down (shock!) so that I could take a nap with my little man. This was my favorite part of the day. I love me some baby snuggles!
The hubs also did a great job with surprising me with flowers, an adorable card, and a Mommy ring that is engraved with Dayton's name and birth date. He's good and he made my first Mother's Day really special! Later on that night, the weather did clear up a little, so we went on a nice long walk, which is one of our favorite things to do in the evenings!
Overall, I loved my first Mother's Day. It was sweet and simple. I got to spend the day with my two favorite boys and just enjoy being a new momma. Love our simple little life.
