Dayton ~ 6 Weeks

6 weeks. How has it already been 6 weeks? Our baby is growing so fast! I absolutely love being a Momma and watching our little one show more and more of his personality each week. It's amazing how fast they grow and how quickly they change. His smiles, his voice, his movements, his mannerisms. I just love it.

Nursing/Eating: We have really established a good eating schedule. I swear, this boy wakes up the minute that his 2 1/2 hours are up and it's time to eat again. Our routine (mostly) is eat, play, sleep, repeat. Sometimes little man is sleepy and he skips the "play" time. We are still on a 2 1/2 hour schedule and it seems to be perfect for Dayton. He eats at 6 am, 8:30, 11, 1:30 pm, 4, 6:30, and 9 pm. Bedtime is at 7 pm and the 9 pm feeding, the hubs gives D his bottle in a "dream feed." Dayton has been sleeping until about 3:30 am. I get up, feed him, pump, and go to the gym. This way, Brad is home with him and when I get back the hubs leaves for work. Win win.

Nursing is still going great. Dayton is a champ and eats in about 20 minutes. I am still pumping 2-3 times in a 24 hour period, so I am getting about 12-18 oz outside of nursing the babe. As of right now, I have over 100 6 oz. bags of breast milk stored in our deep freeze. Yay! I am so so thankful that nursing has worked out for us.

Sleeping: Dayton takes a 60-90 minute nap after each feeding during the day. He wakes up the minute it's time to eat again. It cracks me up how his little internal clock works. Sometimes, I have some serious trouble getting to have some awake time during the day. I think he's just a sleepy baby though because he is sleeping well at night still too. The past few nights he was pretty cranky between 7-9 pm, so we've made sure his bedtime is at 7 pm and he is sleeping through to his bottle time. I think the new "bedtime" has worked well for him so far.

Size: This kid. I did get that baby scale from my friend. Are you ready for this?? 11 pounds 9 ounces. Chunky baby! He is wearing 0-3 month clothes and is in a size 1 diaper still. I wouldn't be surprised if he grew out of his clothes and his diapers soon though!

Development: This week we've seen a whole new personality from our baby boy. He is so much more alert and interactive. He looks at both of us, responds to our baby talk, is using his voice to coo, and is showing some of his parents stubbornness! We've had a few more fits this week, but only when he was tired and hungry. He is also grabbing onto our hands and other objects to hold on our pull on. His grip is strong! We've also had a few more smiles this week. Melts my heart.

Temperament: Overall, happy and content baby. Just a sweetie pie!

Likes: Day loves being held and talked to. This week I went to school to help my team with some end of the year things and they all took turns holding and playing with Dayton. He was so happy and just looked at them, squirmed, and made sweet baby noises. Adorable.

Dislikes: This kid is pretty easy. He dislikes being hungry and sleepy. Oh and we definitely cannot swaddle his arms anymore. He gets pretty mad about that!

Small Moments: My favorite this week? His little chunky legs and cheeks. I could kiss those cheeks all day...oh wait, I do. I just love seeing him fill out and get a little fat on him. Baby rolls are the cutest.

Mommy: This week is going much better for me (although I am more sleep deprived). I started up my gym routine this week and it feels amazing to be back in the gym lifting. I missed it!! a lot. I feel like me again. It was killing me not to go to the gym. As of right now, I am going to the gym around 4:30 am. Dayton has been eating at 3:30 am and by the time I am done feeding him and pumping, I can get to the gym by 4:30ish and back home before 6 am when he eats again. So far, so good.I definitely have to take a nap during the day when he is sleeping so that I don't lose my mind with fatigue. Its what is working for us right now. I am just happy to be back in the gym! So far, I have lost 2 pounds this past week. Woop! 16 more to go!

Right now, I am following Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer. I am lifting weights 4 days a week, taking 1 rest day, and using Sunday as my "long walk" cardio day. This Sunday, the hubs and I took Dayton and Abe to Prairie Lake and walked the trails for about an hour. Ahhhh, I love summer and the sun so much!!

I had my 6 week appointment this week. Doc says everything looks great and my incision healed well. There is some scar tissue, but that's to be expected. I am all clear to live as I please! and I don't have to see her again until 2016 or we decide to get pregnant again. I love my Doctor.
