DTB ~ His Monogram

Naming a kid is hard! I mean, they have to have that name the rest of their lives so you have to think of an awesome name. You also have to consider the popularity of the name you choose because you don't want him to have the same name as 20 other kids in his class. You have to find a name that people can't come up with weird nick names or shorten to another name and make fun of them. Decisions decisions.

Early on in my pregnancy, the hubs and I were driving home from the Quad Cities and started talking about baby names. We had no idea what baby was, but we had 2 hours to kill. Well, we decided on our baby's name, whether he be a boy or a girl, in those 2 hours.

We started by me throwing out a couple of boy names that I really liked. The hubs response? "No." "Absolutely not." "Unacceptable." etc. So I replied, "Fine! You think of one."

And then he said it, "How about Dayton." I paused, thought about it, repeated it, and said, "I love it!"  And that's how it happened folks. (We did also pick out another boy name that we liked, because at that point I was convinced we were having twin boys because I had dreamed about it more than once. We also picked out a girl name, so we are set!) Anywho, we came up with his middle name pretty easily as well. We tried out a few names, but settled on Dayton Thomas because my grandfather's name is Thomas. We wanted at least one family name in there! (And my Papa is the cutest, sweetest Papa in the world.)

The name Dayton means: bright and sunny.

Honestly, we love his name. There is no one really famous (that we could find) with the name Dayton, we Googled the name (a ton) to find any downsides to it, and we thought if anyone shortens it they'll call him "D", "Day", or "DB." All of those would sound awesome when people yell his name on the football field. Ha! We're growing a future quarterback here. or maybe a nerd. Who knows. Hopefully, he will like his name as much as we do!
