Sigh...Spring Break. Finally! I've been looking forward to this week since January hit. I knew I would have almost 10 full days to really buckle down and get some serious "nesting" done. I had a nice big to-do list and I'm pretty happy with everything I got done! Here's a few things that were on my list:
- finalize a daycare for little man
- buy a deep freeze
- make at least 10 freezer dinner meals and 6 weeks freezer lunches for the hubs and I (Since I normally do Sunday food-prep, I wanted to have about 6 weeks of it done so that we could defrost lunches for us for at least 5 weeks - clean eating!)
- order/DIY decorations for the nursery
- 34 week appointment
- meet with the general surgeon about my possible hernia
- spring clean the house
- re-organize the kitchen cabinets to fit all the new baby things
- re-organize the guest room closet
- wash, fold, and organize the 7 tubs of baby clothes
- spend time with my stay-at-home mommy friends!
Did you happen to see that "wash, fold, and organize the 7 tubs of baby clothes" phrase on the list? Let me tell you all about it. Thanks to Sister Beth, I started looking on Craigslist for baby boy clothes. We had a few things, but really not enough! On Monday, I started my search and found a new posting for 7 tubs of baby boy clothes, 0-9 months, and the seasons even matched up for $125. Sweet! I called the lady who posted right away. I let the hubs know, he insisted on going (to which I was thankful for), and we set the meeting time for Tuesday after work in Cedar Rapids.
Oh. My. Stars. We totally hit the jackpot on these clothes!! The husband met us near his office at Rockwell Collins. He opened the trunk to his huge SUV and there they were...7 BIG Rubbermaid tubs packed full of baby boy clothes from newborn to 18 months!! I started looking through the clothes and they were all name brand clothes - Baby Gap (mostly), Carter's, Old Navy, etc. and they all looked brand new. Some even had the tags on them still! I looked at Brad and said, "Give him the money." Haha! Seriously, these clothes are awesome. They are so cute and aren't cheesy. They're all little man, stylin' clothes. Yes! The guy told us that they had estimated that they had spent about $1,500 on all of the clothes. Uuumm, I'm pretty sure it was more and we definitely only paid $125!! (side note: and we got all of the tubs which probably was worth at least $30-40!)
Over break, I started going through the tubs, which were all sorted and labeled already, and washing them. Just to give you an idea of how much was in the tubs...we counted the items in one of the 6 month tubs - 40 onsies, 16 sleepers, 3 pairs of jeans, a brand new Baby Gap snow suit, 12 pairs of pants, 12 outfits, 2 pairs of Baby Gap shoes, and 12 pairs of socks. I'm telling you...jackpot. A-ma-zing. Out of the 4 tubs that I have been through...we have thrown out 1 sleeper...because it had one little stain on it. No lie. So excited!
Thankfully, I got a ton done over break ~ we got adorable clothes for Lil' bit, the hubs put the finishing touches on the nursery, set up the crib and the dresser, put together the recliner/glider chair, assembled the stroller and car seat travel system, made lots of freezer meals ( a few more to go!), and nailed down a daycare for little man (which we are both very happy about!).

In other news, one of my very good friends told me over break that she is pregnant!!! I am thrilled and can't wait to meet her sweet baby at the beginning of October!! Congrats Amanda and Shawn! We love you both and can't wait to welcome you to parent-hood!

Ha...well I had NO kids at home and I had almost 10 days! I'm not one to lay around...ever. I have to stay busy all of the time. Blessing and a curse!
