Since there seems to be tons of prego women all around us, it just so happened that another couple, Alicia and Eric, from our church group and neighbors were taking the same class! Alicia is about 4 weeks behind me and the 4 of us get along quite well. Perfect. Our class was Saturday from 9 am-5 pm and Sunday from 12-5 pm. Hence the title, Lamaze Marathon. Honestly, I'm glad we took that class and got all the info we needed in 2 days. It was a lot, but it was really good!
Since we're planning on a natural birth without medication, it was nice to learn about different techniques, positions, and the stages of labor I'll have to go through until baby gets here - mind prepping. The class was not, I repeat, it was not about breathing. We spent 2 minutes on breathing. The class focused on the above mentioned as well as "comforting" strategies for the hubs. I think we're ready...kind of?! I definitely feel more informed, have a decent idea of what to expect, and have started preparing mentally for the process. Now, we just need to get there and have this baby!
Best part of the class? The hubs wearing the empathy belly. And yes, I whipped out my phone and took several pictures. Feel free to enjoy.
