Bumpdate ~ Week 34

34 weeks. I never thought I would say this, but I wish I could slow time down. These weeks are flying by too fast! Although, I do feel much better having been on Spring Break this week and have gotten a ton done. The break was much needed and couldn't have come at a better time.

34 weeks means another Dr.'s appointment! Everything looks good, baby is still growing well, and Momma is healthy and happy. The hubs is hanging in there too.
  • heart beat : 134 bpm
  • tummy : 35 cm
  • baby is head down and verrrry low according to the Dr.
I can tell Baby is very low. It feels like he is punching my pelvic bone and every now and then when he moves his head around it's kind of painful. Oh baby boy, you're going to be a big man aren't you? His butt and his feet also like to kick and push against my right ribs. I find myself having to stand up or sit back farther to give them a break! They almost get this numb feeling. All part of being prego! I'm not complaining about it, just telling how it's been! Honestly, I don't mind it. I love feeling him move around and knowing that each day that goes by is a day less that I have to wait to hold my sweet little man. As long as he keeps growing, I will be one happy Momma.
  • Week 34
  • Baby is the size of a : cantaloupe
  • Weight : 4.73   lb. / Length :  17.72  in.
  • Baby's bones are fully developed this week. He is turning his head and moving his body from side to side. By now, most of or all of the lanugo (body hair) is gone. Baby's immune system is not relying on the placenta anymore. Baby's digestive system is fully working on its own now as well. Even though the placenta is able to support baby until birth, it will start to age this week.

Gender: BOY!

Weight Gain: According to the scale at the Dr.'s office only 1 more pound in the past 4 weeks. This brings me a total of 32 pounds. Not too shabby.

How I Feel: I am still feeling pretty well overall, other than the few discomforts I mentioned above: baby pushing on my pelvic bone and pushing against/kicking my ribs. I've noticed that my back is more sensitive while I am working out, so I am very careful with my posture while I'm working out and lifting heavy weight. In other news...I do not have a hernia! Woo! I met with the general surgeon and he says I don't have one. He thinks it was swollen ligaments or something...to be honest, I had no idea what he was trying to explain. All I heard was "no hernia" which means no extra surgery!
  • Stretch marks: None.
  • Belly button: It looks like 1/4 of it is sticking out.
  • Other: I came down with a sore throat and a horrible cold this week. Terrible. Although, I can't complain since it's the first time I've been any kind of sick (excluding morning sickness) this whole pregnancy. It hit me on a Thursday and was pretty much gone by the following Thursday.
How Daddy's Feeling: The hubs has been busy putting the finishing touches on the nursery paint. It looks so good! Can't wait till we get the crib in there, the dresser set up, and the recliner/glider is delivered and set up in the nursery. Love it!

Cravings: None.

Food Aversions: None.

Movement: This little man is awfully active! I feel him moving around pretty regularly all throughout the day. He pushes on my pelvic bones, pushes and kicks my ribs, and likes to stick his butt and back out the right side. He might push right out of me one of these days. ;) Oh wait...that's supposed to happen.

Sleep: Apparently, week 34 means no more sleep for me! Sunday through the rest of the week I woke up about every 2 hours - just wide awake. Monday I felt horrible and so so tired, but by mid-week I seemed to be fairly used to it. Good thing it's spring break week!

Best Moment This Week: Always...hearing our baby's heart beat.

Worst Moment This Week: Sore/numb ribs.

Looking Forward to: Finishing the nursery! and counting down the days until Baby's due date!

What I Miss: Getting up and down off the couch easily. Actually, moving anywhere easily. I'm just big and awkward these days!

Pregnancy Thoughts this Week:
  •  We just about have day care nailed down, which is a huge relief. What's not a huge relief is how much day care costs. Yikes. Poor hubby has been a little stressed about fitting it into the budget. I may be a stay at home Momma come Baby #2. And trust me...I don't mind the sound of that!
  • Speaking of being a stay-at home Momma, that has always been my dream. Don't get my wrong, I love my career and I want to keep moving up in my career, as well as continuing my education in my career (Doctorate). However, I would give anything to stay at home with my babies while they're babies. It's always sounded ideal to me to stay home with my babies until they are in school. After they are all in school, then I can go back to work.
  • Nesting has been in full swing this week: cleaning, organizing, making freezer meals, checking off my to-do list, working on the nursery, finding/buying/organizing baby clothes/diapers/supplies/etc... My to-do list is looking a lot better these days!
Diet: Still eating clean 80/20. Even the freezer meals I've been making (for when baby gets here) are clean. Happy, healthy little family of three coming up!

Exercise: Still getting to the gym 6 days a week. Lifting weights and 30-60 minutes of cardio. I'm not going to lie, sometimes it's really hard to get myself to the gym and feel motivated, but as soon as I get there and I push myself through my workout I feel amazing. Some days it's hard getting there, but I never ever regret going. This week 2 older ladies asked how far along I am. When I said 34 weeks, they both looked shocked and told me how great I looked and "maybe you should take it easy." Ha! I'm pretty happy with the fact that I'm 34 weeks prego and still kickin' it in the gym like I was when I was 24 weeks. This girl does not stop.

What's Happening This Week: I'm on Spring Break!!!!!!!!!!! and it has been fabulous. The hubs has been pretty busy at work, but he's made it home every night around 4 or 4:30 so that we can enjoy "spring break." We toured a day care facility on Wednesday, had an interview with an in-home on Thursday, and have another in-home interview scheduled on Monday! We're almost there. The hubs was on spring break with his Masters as well this week, so that has been nice for him!
