Week brought another appointment, which I was happy to go to. I had a little bit, and I mean tiny bit, of spotting. I mentioned it at our appointment and because of our situation, the nurse suggested an ultrasound. Yes, please! I'm always happy to see our little babe. The ultrasound went just fine and I got to see our little one's heart fluttering. I also got to watch that sweet little thing move his/her arms and legs around. Love it!!
- Baby is the size of a: raspberry
- weight: 0.04 oz / length: 0.63 in
- This is the week that baby get his man part or she gets her girlie parts. Baby's face also has an upper lip, eyelids and a tip of his/her nose. Baby's little fingers and toes have also started to form.
Week 9 ~
This week wasn't anything new. I am still feeling nauseous and tired. Although, it's mostly at night. I feel fine in the mornings, which has helped me get up and get to the gym about 3-4 days of the week. On the weekends, the hubs is so helpful and sweet. He gets up around 7ish and does his reading. Then when Dayton wakes up, he gets him up and watched him so that I can sleep in! It's amazing. Thank you Brad!!
- Baby is the size of a: grape
- weight: 0.07 oz / length: 0.90 in
- Baby has now entered what the doctors call the "fetal" period. Baby's kidney, lover, and brain are all beginning to function. Baby's head is as big his his/her body and his/her tail is almost gone!
10 weeks ~
Week 10 brought my last week at school before Christmas break, which I was pretty excited about. Yes, I was happy about the time off, but I was more relieved about not having to try and hide this bump! I cannot believe how much I popped out and how quickly this time. Hiding this thing is hard! I can't wear maternity clothes, because that is too obvious. It will be nice to come back from break and be able to share our news and this belly. I'm still feeling nauseous and tired, but I am hoping that will clear up soon. It has definitely been easier to manage this time. #2 seems a little easier than the first!
- Baby is the size of a: date
- weight: 0.14 oz / length: 1.22 in
- Baby now has all of his/her internal organs and baby's heart is almost fully developed. Baby's tail is gone and the webbing between fingers and toes is gone as well. Baby's eyes can move side to side and baby's ear are almost ready to hear.
11 weeks ~
Week 11 has been fun. This was the week that we announced to family that we were expecting babe #2! We told parents previously, but were able to tell siblings in person. It's so much fun to share news, especially since our family knew what we've been through! We also celebrated Christmas in the Quad Cities and drove down to South Carolina. I did pretty well on the drive down. I was able to sleep a lot, which was much needed. All I could think about for this week was sleeping!

- Baby is the size of a: fig
- weight: 0.25 oz / length: 1.61 in
- Baby is growing and is busy moving! This week is the beginning of a three week period when baby will double in length and go through a growth spurt. At some point this week, the placenta will begin functioning. Baby looks more and more like a human this week with a visible neck and straighter back.

Weeks 8-11:
Weight Gain: five pounds
How I Feel: I have felt pretty good in the mornings, but the nausea sets in about 9 am. I have been keeping crackers and snacks in my desk to help me get through the mornings. I've been drinking a lot of water and eating when I can get a bite or two in! The nausea continues to get worse throughout the day and by dinner time, I am just plain old sick. I am still feeling very tired as well. Honestly, every day that I wake up sick I am just thankful.

- Stretch marks: none
- Belly button: in
- Other: some cramping, but according to my mid-wife it is normal
Cravings: cucumbers and fresh fruit, chips and salsa, potato chips
Food Aversions: dinner
Movement: none
Sleep: sleeping a lot!
Best Moment: our 8 week appointment and getting to see lil' bit moving around
Worst Moment: feeling sick and trying to hide this belly ha!
Looking Forward to: being able to tell everyone that baby #2 is baking
Pregnancy thoughts this week: I'm pregnant. I'm actually pregnant.
Diet: It's been much easier to manage the nausea this time around. I've been doing well eating clean 80/20. I feel like I can manage it more this time. I am eating a lot of crackers to help get me through the day and the kashi protein cereal I eat at night helps with the night time sickness. So, like I said in the last post, more carbs but still eating well!
Exercise: I've been able to get up in the mornings and work out 3-4 mornings during the work week. Brad and I go to the gym together on Saturdays, but I am still taking Sundays off. I am still lifting weights like normal and running!
What's happening around here weeks 8-11: Getting ready for Christmas time!! and traveling to see the Bishop and Brunner families!
