Hello 2nd Trimester!! Sigh...what a relief to finally have you here! I have been looking forward to meeting you and hoping that you would bring many new wonderful things about this pregnancy...as in, less nausea!
My dear friend, 2nd trimester, you did not disappoint! THANK YOU! Feeling sick all of the time is not the best. In fact, it sucks - big time. Buuut, like I said...as long as I felt sick, I felt decently assured that baby was in there growing! In a way, the nausea was almost a comfort. That seems messed up somehow. Ha! Anyways, all that is gone away and I am back to my normal self (plus still being fairly tired).
I am not going to lie. Now that I am out of the "sick" trimester and we know that baby is perfectly healthy...
I loooooove being pregnant!! Especially now that I can FEEL Baby!!!!!!!
Seriously, Love. It!! I love knowing our baby is growing in my tummy. I love the idea of being pregnant. I love the maternity clothes. I love that everyone knows we're going to have a baby. I love my baby bump!! I find myself putting my hand on my tummy or rubbing my baby, without even thinking about it. I love it all! My mom always said she absolutely loved being pregnant, and I always looked forward to it. Now that I'm feeling back to normal, I completely understand what she was talking about. I. Love. Being. Pregnant! It might be the best thing in the world.
- Week 14
- Baby is the size of a : peach
- Weight : 1.52 oz. / Length : 3.42 in.
- Baby is twisting, turning and continually moving those little joints. Baby also has tiny hairs growing all over his/her body - these will eventually form the fingerprints on baby's fingers! Baby's skin is very translucent and baby's veins are visible. Baby's lungs are still developing and they are practicing breathing with the amniotic fluid. Baby can suck his/her thumb by now, baby can frown, grimace, and squint! Baby's arms are proportionate now, but the legs are still slightly shorter.
Weight Gain: I'm down to 9 pounds this week! I'm going to chalk that up to being back in the gym and eating differently this week - Yes, I am still eating clean through this entire pregnancy!
Pregnancy Symptoms: Not too many now a days...other than my growing baby bump! It pops out a little more and more each week! and I LOVE it! I still have an achy back, but thanks to the chiropractor (that I finally was able to get to) that is feeling better! I have been using the foam roller and heating pad at home as well to help. I'm still sore in the normal pregnant places and using the bathroom at a ridiculous amount. Ha!
- Stretch marks: Nope! None so far, but I have been slathering my belly with Belly Butter every night!
- Belly button: still in.
- Other: I think the dark line is starting to appear under my belly button!
Cravings: Chips and salsa. I want to eat it almost every day as soon as I get home from work! I have been eating whole grain chips and organic salsa to help with that! I can't get enough!
Food Aversions: My black coffee is still pretty avoided. I can actually be around the smell now though! Maybe I will try some soon. I looove black coffee and have missed it! Decaf it is though! Cooked veggies are still not appealing...however, I can put down a veggie loaded salad! Yum!
Movement: I felt baby!! Week 14, Day 1 - I felt the flutters as I was waking up and getting in the shower. At first, I thought my stomach was growling, but it happened about 6-7 times. I kept holding my belly and just standing there- feeling the movement on the inside. I got out of the shower, looked at Brad and said, "I think I just felt that baby! I think." It was weird and amazing all at the same time!
Then I felt the baby again on Wednesday while I was at work. This time I knew it was the baby. I felt the flutters again on Friday and late Saturday. AMAZING!!! I just can't get over it!! Seriously...love it!!
Sleep: I have been pretty good about getting 7 1/2 - 8 hours of sleep a night. That has definitely helped! I haven't taken a nap in a while, but I am still sleeping in late on the weekends (while I can!). I am trying to fall asleep on my left side like it is recommended. I have always slept on my right or left side (predominantly right), so this was not that hard. I will not miss sleeping on my stomach, because I never have! It's bad for your back anyways...
Best Moment This Week: Feeling our lil' bit!! Best thing to happen yet! Just absolutely amazing!
Worst Moment This Week: Feeling tired and like I am forgetting everything! I hate being forgetful and I am usually on top of everything or even ahead of time! I am a planner, big time, OCD, everything has it's own place place, type A person - so forgetting everything is not fun for me.
Looking Forward to: Feeling kicks and the hubs being able to feel our little peanut!!
What I Miss: Pumpkin beer! This time of year is one of my favorites! Every time I see the hubs drinking a pumpkin beer...I get a little jealous!
Pregnancy Thoughts this Week:
- We already have a boy name picked out and a girl name! It was actually really easy for us and I LOVE the names we picked out! They have meaning to both of us and/or our families. We are planning to do a gender reveal party at the beginning of December and then we may reveal the initials soon after (for monogramming purposes - of course #duh).
- I already know what colors the nursery will be: orange, grey, and yellow (or teal) for a boy and grey, pink, and cream for a girl! And everything will be monogrammed.
- Let's be honest...I can't stop thinking about this baby!! I can't wait to meet you lil' bit!
Exercise: This week was awesome!! I was back in the gym and...drum roll...back at the weights!! Finally! I did try to start off "easy" by doing a full body weight lifting workout 4 days this week to ease my body back into weight training. I also changed my cardio by doing 30 min of cardio on the elliptical and 15-30 min of walking on the treadmill on an incline. It feels awesome to be back at my "2nd home" (i.e. the gym) and being me - only now with a baby bump poking out! I feel better and my body feels better. Woo!
