In my natural manner, I started planning his two year birthday party months in advance. I narrowed the theme down to two choices: tractors or dinosaurs. Those two things have been Dayton's favorites for a while, so I had him help me choose between them. It was very scientific (wink, wink). We set a tractor and a dinosaur in front of him and then asked him which he would like to play with. Without hesitation, he grabbed the...tractor! Dayton has quite a few tractors and he plays with them often. He gets even more excited when we see tractors while we're driving. A few months ago he started saying, "John Deere!" when he sees a green tractor. His daddy is pretty proud.
Once the theme was picked, party planning started right away. I have been pinning away on Pinterest and scouring Etsy for ideas. I found the cutest invite on Etsy, thought about re-doing it myself and then ran out of time. So, I bought it. Here is what his invite looks like. I bought the invitation on Etsy, here. Isn't it adorable? I can't get enough of that face!!
Here is some of the inspiration for the party thanks to Pinterest! I know, I know, he's only turning two and all of this is more for my fun than his, right? Well, he loves tractors, I love party planning and he's an only child for just a few more months so I'm going to enjoy every bit of it that I can!
Since I have a Silhouette Cameo machine, I can make a lot of this myself, easily. (I'm so thankful I spent my fun money on that beautiful machine!) I plan to make his two year shirt, the tractor welcome sign, the Happy Birthday banner, and a few other fun details for the party. I love DIY projects, so I am having a hay day with this (no pun intended). It will be so much fun! I am counting down the days until his party and DIY'ing away.
One more thing. Here is the photo we used for his birthday invitation. Doesn't he look so old? and like a little farmer looking out over his field? If you know the Brunners, you can see Grandpa Brunner in this picture. That is a Brunner man look if I ever saw one. Yep, no smiles.
Here are a few other photos from the quick "shoot" I did. We took the photos, just Day and I, after school one day when it wasn't freezing outside. The clouds were prefect, but it was windy. Dayton was fine once riding in his wagon down to the field, but once we got there he was not too excited about taking pictures. Can you tell? He's going through a "no pictures, please" stage, so I seriously only got three semi-good shots. The above was by far the best one. The rest of the photos were followed by, "No Mama! No picture." Haha! Bless his little heart. He melts me.
