Week 23- Second Trimester
- Baby is the size of an: eggplant
- Weight : 1.10 lb. | 11.38 in.
- If baby happened to be born this week, he would have a 50% chance of survival. As baby's brain develops, the cerebrum, a part of the brain that is responsible for memory, motor skills, and intellect is preparing to start communication between cells. Rapid eye movement has begun while baby sleeps. Baby's hair is darkening and his skin is developing some pigment.
Weight Gain: 13-14 pounds
How I Feel:
- Stretch marks: none
- Belly button: same, a little popped out
- Other: My hips and pelvis have been a little sore this week. I'm sure it's due to baby's growth and my body's preparation for carrying the rest of the pregnancy and birth. I don't remember this happening while I was pregnant with Dayton though. Hopefully, it will lighten up soon. It hasn't been anything major, just uncomfortable.
Food Aversions: same
Movement: little man has pretty predictable patterns. He's awake and kicking while I eat breakfast (after the gym), after lunch, and from 9-10 pm at night. I am feeling him more randomly throughout the day. My favorite is when he is kicking, I will put my hand on my stomach. Most of the time I get to feel his little foot slide across my hand. I love it! This little boy moves his hands a lot too. I feel his head and his hands moving a ton and I feel it very low.
Sleep: sleeping well, although I am hot at night
Best Moment This Week: getting to feel little man move
Looking Forward to: my 24 week appointment with Jackie! I haven't seen her for a while, so it'll be nice to reconnect with her. She was the midwife I saw when we switched offices. She was very proactive with our infertility and I cannot thank her enough!
What I Miss: nothing comes to mind
Diet: eating clean 90/10 this week still. Trying to "make up" for all of that fried southern food!
Exercise: still working out 6 days a week using short cut to shred
What's Happening This Week: This week is the same old same old...except we're trying to get back into the routine of "life" after spring break. Monday morning was hard!! Monday Dayton and I did not want to wake up, but it turned out to be a gorgeous day though! Tuesday night was our small group night, but not that many couples could come so we ended up just chatting about the school bond vote coming up, politics, parenting, and married life with about 3 other couples. Wednesday night Brad had class and Thursday night was low key. Saturday we're taking taking to Ankre farms for an Easter egg hunt and to see the baby farm animals. He loves farm animals, so this will be fun for all of us! Saturday night we're meeting the Bishop family in Iowa City to have dinner. Sunday we have church, lunch, and our at home Easter egg hunt will be after that! I love the holidays.
