Week 28...Hello 3rd Trimester!! This thought was both exciting and slightly scary at the same time. Are we really only 12 weeks away from Baby D's arrival?! Woohoo! and Yikes! all at the same time. This week marks my 6th Dr.'s appointment and my glucose test. This also means that I will be visiting the Dr. every 2 weeks instead of 4. Doc says everything is looking good:
- Baby's heart beat: 129 bpm
- Belly measure: 29 cm.
- Glucose test: Passed!!
Each time I go to the Dr.'s office, I am trying to continue to meet all 5 doctors. The practice that we go to has a total of 5 doctors. We have no idea who will deliver the baby on D-Day, so we are trying to meet and get to know them all. I have met 2 of the Doctors, a few physicians assistants, and other associates. My next 3 appointments have been scheduled and 2 of them are with doctors! And the count down begins...
- Week 28
- Baby is the size of a : kabocha squash
- Weight : 2.22 lb. / Length : 14.80 in.
- This week baby's eyes are now partially open and his tiny eyelids are able to blink. The color of his eyes is developing, but won't finish coloring until his eyes see light. Baby is able to recognize different levels of light. Baby is starting to get chubbier as his fat is depositing under his wrinkled skin. His muscles are developing some tone as well!
Gender: BOY!
Weight Gain: According to the scale at the Dr.'s office...24 lbs.
How I Feel: I feel great! No back pain, no swelling, no headaches, no sickness, etc. I still have the minor pregnancy symptoms like a stuffy nose and general uncomfortableness. My belly is definitely starting to get in the way!
- Stretch marks: Still none!
- Belly button: In.
- Other: I'm definitely having some pretty regular Braxton Hicks contractions, especially in the mornings. A few days a week, my stomach feels like I did 1 million sit ups throughout the night, so I know the Braxton Hicks contractions are intense and painful. At least it's not waking me up!
Cravings: I haven't really had too many cravings. I still prefer to eat fresh fruits like pineapple and watermelon as well as salads, salsa and chips, and shrimp.
Food Aversions: None.
Movement: Little man is quite the busy baby! He's a little less active early in the mornings, but he is moving pretty consistently throughout the day now. He has been more active after lunch and my kiddos have been entertained with watching my belly jump and move around. My Lil Bit is still very active at night too! He prefers to lay on the right side of my tummy. Doc says he is head down (yay!), so now I know it's his butt and feet that are kicking/pushing on my ribs.
Sleep: Sleeping well and needing lots of it. The exhaustion from the 1st Trimester is definitely back.
Best Moment This Week: Going to the Dr. and hearing baby's heart beat.
And a funny moment. The words, "Hunny, I need you to take off my boots for me. If I bend over right now, I might wet my pants." actually happened this week. Haha!! We got a good laugh over it.
Worst Moment This Week: Waking up and feeling like I did 1 million sit ups all night. Uncomfortable.
Looking Forward to: Going home for my family's Baby Shower!!! Sooooo excited!
What I Miss: This week? I missed my Saturday night frozen yogurt stop. We used to stop at the frozen yogurt shop on Saturdays and get a little cup for dessert. Unfortunately, pregos can't eat frozen yogurt. Apparently, there's some not-so-good bacteria in the machines. Boo. I miss it!
Pregnancy Thoughts this Week:
- "This is starting to get uncomfortable and awkward."
- "I can't see my feet anymore when I look down."
- Nursery, nursery, nursery. My nesting needs are getting much stronger! and a little more anxious.
Exercise: The same - weight training 4-5 days a week and 1-2 days of cardio for 60 minutes. Wednesday is my rest day now. We also recently bought a used treadmill which should make its way down to our basement this weekend so I can do 20-30 minutes of cardio after I wake up and before breakfast.
Inside Pregnancy ~ Week 28
