Bumpdate ~ Week 27

Week 27. The last week of the 2nd Trimester?! I can't believe it's already here!! I know I say this every week, but the time really is flying by. Baby D will be here in less than 13 weeks. Yikes! We have tons to do before this little one gets here (I'm pretty sure I say that every week too).

Baby D is very active in the mornings and around bedtime, but both Daddy and I have come to enjoy it very much. It's our special time with Baby and I wouldn't change a thing! Baby seems to be turning a lot more this week and I think he has moved out of my ribs, finally...at least for a day or two. They are much less achy this week. Thanks peanut. We are also having a fun time watching my stomach look funny and misshapen. Larger body parts are starting to protrude and stick out the side of my belly. Ha! We get a kick out of it! We also love watching my belly jump all over the place. This baby is crazy.
  • Week 27
  • Baby is the size of a : rutabaga
  • Weight :  1.93  lb. / Length :  14.41  in. (from crown to heel) (average size)
  • Baby is entering a very active phase (I can vouch for this). The amniotic fluid is decreasing, so I will be able to feel Baby's movements even more than before. Baby is practicing the sucking reflex in order to prepare for feeding. Baby's brain is developing rapidly and his brain waves are working like a newborns brain waves. Baby's skeleton is completely developed, but the joints are not connected yet. Baby's immune system, liver and lungs are still continuing to develop. Baby's eyelids have begun to open and retinas have begun to develop!

Gender: BOY!

Weight Gain: About 22-23 pounds.

How I Feel:
  • Stretch marks: None. Woohoo!
  • Belly button: Still in. Maybe I will luck out and the belly button won't pop?!
  • Other: I had some painful Braxton Hicks contractions this week. It freaked me out for a bit, because they were close together and they've never hurt before. After a little research, I made sure to drink some water and lay on my left side. They subsided pretty quickly after that! Apparently, working out and not drinking enough water are some common triggers. However, they also help baby move, so he got out of my ribs for a day or two!
How Daddy's Feeling: The hubs is doing great! He has been reading the book, "The Expectant Father" and is just about finished with it! The hubs reads a ton and my cousin, Jeremiah, actually ordered this book for him when they found out we were pregnant! Good pick, Jer! The book is written by a man and goes through each month of the pregnancy: what's happening with me, what he may be feeling, financial issues, planning ideas, etc. So far, it's been great!

Cravings: Avocados, salad, and fresh fruit. Yum!

Food Aversions: None.

Movement: Holy active baby! but I love it. I can even feel when he is changing positions now, which is really weird/cool.

Sleep: This week I haven't been sleeping as well. I don't think it's baby related so much. I've just been extra tired, my schedule has been thrown off with snow days, and if I get hot at night I can't sleep. This is completely abnormal for me because I am usually freezing at night and have always slept with the covers up over my shoulder...only my head could be poking out. Now that I'm prego...I am hot as can be! Kicking off covers, wearing itty bitty pj's, standing in the garage with bare feet trying to cool down, turning the heat down, keeping the fan on, etc. Ridiculous!

Best Moment This Week: Knowing how baby is laying just by looking at my misshapen tummy! So funny!

Worst Moment This Week: Stress at school...

Looking Forward to: I am looking forward to moving ahead on the nursery! and go to my 28 week appointment next Tuesday!

What I Miss: Not really anything. Well, except maybe a glass of wine at the end of a stressful day.

Pregnancy Thoughts this Week:
  •  I am just in awe of this little miracle. God is so amazing. Every time I feel this little one move inside my tummy, I can't help but praise the Lord for this baby and for the amazing miracle that every pregnancy is. When you stop and think about all the things that have to happen to make a baby, grow a baby, and have that baby...how can you not believe in God?
  • All I can say is that God is so good.
Diet: Clean eating 80/20. Here's what a typical day looks like for me...
  • 6 am - breakfast: 1 egg white and 2 eggs scrambled, Ezekiel bread toast
  • 8 am - snack: banana
  • 10:45 am - snack: greek yogurt and 2 cups of strawberries and raspberries
  • 12 pm - lunch: 6 oz. lean protein (chicken, ground turkey), whole grain (1/2 cup brown rice), 8 oz. fruit (peach, pear, apple), 2 servings of veggies (baby carrots, cucumbers) with a little bit of light ranch dressing
  • 2 pm - snack: greek yogurt or homemade protein bar
  • 4 pm - snack: 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 serving of fruit
  • 5:30 pm - snack: Ezekiel bread, toasted before the gym
  • 7 pm -dinner: 6 oz lean meat, 1 serving of veggies (broccoli or spinach salad)
  • as much water as possible throughout the day!
Exercise:The same - weight training 4-5 days a week and 1-2 days of cardio for 60 minutes. Wednesday is my rest day now!
