First Family Road Trip! Colorado

Oh Colorado. We could definitely move and live there. It's just so gorgeous and it just seems like the perfect place for us to live...someday...if there was a John Deere there.

My Dad's side of the family lives in Colorado and the hubs and I decided it was time for a visit - especially since we have our little bug now. Plus, recently my Grandpa Brunner's health has declined, so we wanted to get out there and see him one last time, let him meet Dayton, and say goodbye. Hard? yes, but necessary. The trip ended up being really great and exactly what we needed. We stayed with my cousin Jeremiah, his wife Amy, and their amazing son Griffin (Why is he so amazing? Read why here.) Love that little fam!

We left Thursday afternoon as soon as the hubs got off work. We decided breaking up the trip would help us get a good idea of how the babe would travel. The trip would take a total of about 11 1/2 hours. We drove until about 1 am, only stopping so that I could nurse the babe or if we needed gas. Dayton, let me just say, is great at traveling at 10 weeks! He slept basically the whole time. Perfect! We slept in a little and then finished our drive Friday, and arrived at Jer and Amy's house around 3 pm.

Friday night we met up with my Uncle Charles and Aunt Cheri for a delicious Mexican dinner. After dinner, we all went to grandma and grandpa's house. It was good to see them both, but it was getting late so we did not stay very long.

Saturday we slept in a little and then the 6 of us (Us 3, Jer, Amy, and Griffin) got ready for a picnic lunch at the base of the mountains near a lake. It was an easy little walk, but the scenery was great! The boys took the kiddos down to the lake and Griffin enjoyed playing in the water.

Saturday night, we dropped the boys off at Chuck and Cheri's and then us parents went out for dinner and some drinks in downtown Denver. We ate at an excellent Greek restaurant and then headed over to a local brewery. This was our first time leaving Dayton with a babysitter and my first time having a drink (since last July)! Sigh...it was so much fun and I felt perfectly fine knowing that Dayton was with family! Side note - this was my first time drinking and doing the ole' pump and dump. I was so hesitant to do it (I'm blaming my ocd), but I have a ridiculous supply and I needed a break! Afterwards, I was happy I did it. Go me!

Sunday we all slept in - we had a tenancy to stay up late, the boys drank beer, and we all chatted. There may have even been a game of Cards Against Humanity. Heavens. After breakfast, we packed up and headed for Boulder. We went hiking in the mountains - gorgeous - and then ate lunch at a local brewery called Fate. A-ma-zing! Once we got home, we were all pooped so we took a nap and then headed over to grandma and grandpa's house again. Uncle Charles grilled, we ate supper, and enjoyed some ice cream cake and family time. What a perfect Sunday!

The Brunner Fam! minus Dad, Mama, and Jaimie
I'm really glad that we got to see Grandpa Brunner one last time. Thanks to the hubs for making this last minute trip for me! It was also great to see this side of the family and hang out with my awesome cousin and his family. I love that we're really close with my cousin Jer and his family and that we're both in the same phase of life. Okay Jer and Amy...your turn! Love y'all.
