8 Weeks - my baby is about 2 months old. My little man is growing so fast! He definitely doesn't feel/look/act like a newborn anymore! When do they stop being newborns? After a month maybe? Sometimes I look at him and I see the little man he is and is going to be. His little personality is starting to show and he's becoming so much more interactive. It's bittersweet. I want to play with him, watch him smile at me, move around, and all the other fun stuff that comes with a growing boy. Buuuut, I already miss how tiny he used to be and all of the time I spent holding him. We still snuggle a lot, but it's just a little different.
This week has been quite the exciting and busy week for us. Why, you ask? because...there are babies everywhere! Including myself, there were 5 pregnant ladies on our street/cul-de-sac and 4 pregos in our church small group (not to mention the 8 pregos at work!!) Well, all of the neighborhood babies are here as of Saturday night! 2 boys and 3 girls! Also, 3 of the 4 church group babies are here as well. The last baby is due in October. I love love love all of the babies! Day met his new girlfriends on Sunday and last night. They are so beautiful and teeny tiny! Here is Day with his girlfriend Olivia Grace (Liviv). Precious!
Day looks like a giant in this picture! Livi was 6 lb. 13 oz. and Day is over 13 lbs!! That's okay, boys are supposed to be bigger than their lady. Ha! Best part? Little Livi lives a few houses down from us. I'm so excited about all of the neighborhood babies. All 5 of them were born between March and May! I predict a great summer and future for all of our little ones.
*Big Boy! For weeks 5, 6, and 7...I had to prop Day up and take a photo as quick as possible. This week, he was sitting up on his own and only started falling over a few times. They grow fast!!
It only took 45 photos to get one of him looking at me this time :) I love that this photo shows how chubby he is!! Look at those cheeks, and double chin, and leg rolls... Also, that face? Totally gets it from his dad.
And just for fun...
Bloopers:
I'm still doing well with nursing as well. As of right now, we have over 200, 6oz. bags in the deep freeze. I packed them into plastic containers (so that they would keep well), labeled the dates earliest to latest and have them ready to bring to daycare. Laying them flat when freezing them is definitely the best way to go. The plastic containers I used are shoe box size, so I can fit about 15 bags in each box (see picture below). I really cannot express how thankful I am that it is going so well. I know it doesn't come easy or doesn't work at all for some moms, so I never ever will complain about it.
Sleeping: Dayton is such a sleepy baby! He sleeps 1-2 hours between feedings. Sometimes it is almost impossible to wake him up, feed him, and keep him awake long enough to eat then he's right back out. I'm still trying to get him to have some more awake time, but I figure if he's that sleepy at that time of the feeding, then he should sleep. Especially since he sleeps well at night as well. This week he slept 7 solid hours 2 different nights. It is wonderful! The rest of the nights, he slept until about 3 am. Shouldn't be too long now until he's sleeping through the night. We have loved the "Babywise" method!
Size: Today, Day weighed 13 lb. 3 oz. He is wearing size 2 diapers and is still wearing 0-3 month clothes. They still fir him well length wise, but are starting to get smaller where his big belly is. I just love all of his fat rolls. Too cute!
Activity: I noticed that he is really starting to look at my face this week. He looks into my eyes and will stare right at my face for an extended period of time now. It's so sweet! His little facial expressions make me laugh and his little voice is coming out more and more. He's lifting his head up more during tummy time and is constantly wanting to sit up (when he's awake). We started using his bumbo for him to sit up in, but his neck needs a little more muscle! Little man has also discovered how to grab and hang/pull on my hair. No, I will not be (ever) getting my hair cut. No mom hair for this lady!
Temperament: Dayton is such an easy baby. He's so happy and content 95% of the time. We are really lucky...trust me, we know that! His fussy time is from 2-4 pm if he gets fussy. He does get some pretty loud gas. This kids farts crack me up! I cannot get over the big/long/loud farts that come out of that tiny little butt.
Likes: Dayton likes to sit up on a boppy or his bumbo, be in his swing, go for walks/runs, exercise with Daddy, lay on Daddy's chest, lay on my propped up knees, and sleep. He really likes to eat and sleep.
Dislikes: Being sleepy or hungry. He's not particularly a big fan of his binky either, which is fine by me! One less fight later on.
Small Moments: This week one of my favorite moments was Day meeting his new friends. Seeing how tiny Livi and Mags were brought me right back to how itty bitty Day was. I can't believe how fast he's growing and it just reminds me to cherish every second that I have with him. I am so thankful that I get 4 whole months with my little bug. He's my whole world.
Another gem I'd like to recall was the day I got done feeding and burping the babe. We had played a little bit and then he fell asleep on me. A while later,he made a funny noise and then...spew...everywhere! I've seen him spit up quite a bit before, but it's never been on me! It. was. all. over. the. place! All over me, all over him, all over our couch (good thing we have leather couches!!). I just started laughing. It smelled terrible and I almost wasn't sure if I should move or else it would seep down into the sides of the couch. Poor kid slept through the whole thing. See picture below - even though the picture does not do it justice!
Mommy: I'm doing well. I am still losing weight, going to the gym in the mornings to lift weights and do my cardio, taking walks with friends or by myself with Day, cooking/baking, cleaning, running errands, etc. I don't feel overwhelmed or stressed. I love being a stay at home mommy. I wish we could make it permanent!
This week I started a new training program. The hubs has done this program and really liked it, so I thought I would try something new. It's a 6 week HiiT workout. Each day I focus on one to two muscle groups and complete 4 sets of various exercises. In between each set, I do one minute of intense cardio. By the time I get done with all sets and reps, I have done a total of around 30 minutes of cardio. So far, I am loving it. I can feel my body getting stronger and the scale keeps going down. My goal is to be back to pre-prego me by the start of school, which is August 12th! I think I can...I think I can... Hard work, self discipline, and determination - that's how I achieve goals (at least try to!).
