Being in Iowa, so far away from my family is pretty hard sometimes. Luckily, I hit the in-law jackpot! I love and appreciate Brad's family so much! But, I appreciate and love even more when my family makes the effort to come up here and visit us! We go back to the south as often as possible, but this year we haven't been able to get down there as often as we would have liked to.
My parents came to visit this April (here), and this past weekend my cousin Jeremiah, his wife Amy, and their almost 2 year old son Griffin came to visit! The last time I saw Jeremiah was at our wedding (August 2012) and the last time I saw Amy (who was pregnant with Griffin) was at my sister's wedding (August 2011). They're from the Brunner side of our family and they live in Colorado, so we were so excited when they said they were going to drive up and stay with us for a few days!!
Part of the reason I was especially ecstatic about them coming up, was that this would be my first time meeting Griffin. Sweet baby Griffin was born 4 months early. Griffin was born in October and stayed in the NICU until February, when he came home right around his due date birthday. He is a miracle baby and we thank God every day that he fought all the way to where he is today. Little Griffin is a healthy, active, normal 2 year old baby! He is perfect. Amy and Griffin were not able to make it to our wedding because Griffin still was not able to travel. Jeremiah and Amy are some of the most amazing parents I have ever met and seen. They stayed by Griffin's side and fought with him all this time. Brad and I both look up to their love, dedication, and strength. They are all so amazing! Watch this...makes me cry every time! Look for the Brunner family...
Tears...every time I even think about it. Griffin is a rock star. Coolest kid I know.
Jeremiah, Amy, and Griffin drove up from Colorado...12 or so more hours over 2 days. They got into CF Thursday night just in time for dinner. We had such a fun time while they were here! and I loved every minute of hanging out with my family and the Mighty Griffin (he has his own Facebook page...that's the name of it!) The fam left on Sunday night. I did my best and only teared up a little. I loved every minute of having them here. Brad and I are planning out the next trip when we drive down to see them and the rest of the Brunner clan! Can't wait!!
