Birthday Weekend...and Now I'm 28!

Yikes! 28 years old...only 2 more years until I turn 30?? Cra-zy! It was a fabulous birthday weekend, however!

Friday: At school, I had a sub because I was doing reading testing so it was a more relaxing day. My amazing 2nd grade team surprised me with birthday presents AND lunch out! Since Krista and I had subs, we were able to run out to lunch. So much fun!

The hubs came home from work with some great news! {For our one year wedding anniversary, Brad got me a second wedding band!! It was supposed to come in time for our anniversary, but a few days after he ordered it, they called to tell him it would take 5-7 weeks!} Well, on Friday they called Brad and told him that my ring was ready to be picked up!! We bought all of our rings from Helzberg and the closest one in Iowa is in Cedar Rapids. Luckily, we were heading down to the Rents the next day, so we could pick up my ring on the way. *excitement*

And to top off the exciting news...Helzberg was running a special Labor Day weekend. If you spent a certain amount of money in the store, they were giving each customer a Kindle Fire HD!!! Um, yes please! So, since we were picking up and paying for my ring on Saturday, we would get one!! Brad got me a Kindle for Christmas a couple of years ago and I have used to almost to death, so I was pretty excited to hear I would be getting  a Kindle Fire HD!!

Later on, the hubs and I went to the gym and then went out to eat at one of our favorite spots in CF, the Wild Hare. Yummmmo. A little pre-birthday date was just what I needed ~ time with my love.

Saturday: Saturday morning, Brad told me what my birthday present was...a monogram necklace! It's not here yet, but I can't wait until it is!! I am beyond excited!! I have been waiting/wanting one all for myself!

As stated before, we drove down to Cedar Rapids, picked up my ring and my new Kindle Fire, and drove the rest of the way to the Rents house! The 4 of us (Momma and Dad Bishop and Brad and I) laid in the pool and soaked up the sun for the rest of the day. It. Was. Glorious. I love the sun...like, really love it. It makes me a happy person.

 Karen and Jax stopped by to say Happy Birthday and give me my birthday present...which was a black and white chevron lunchbox with my monogram on it!! She's good...she knows. It was so nice to see them and I always love me some baby nephew time! Little man is growing up fast!

Beth and Geno showed a little while later. Oh, did I mention that August 31st is Geno's birthday too?!? Yep, Gene and I have the exact same birthday. I guess if I have to share, it's fun to share with family!! We all got our restaurant of choice take out and then hunkered down in the basement to watch some football. Iowa State (Brad's alma mater) was playing UNI (Beth and Gene's school) and Clemson was playing Georgia.

Clemson was ranked 8th and Georgia was ranked 5th. The game. Was. Glorious! Clemson won!!! and moved up to 5th in the rankings. Hallelujah!! Unfortunately, Iowa State lost...sad. But...Clemson won!! That definitely made my birthday day awesome!

Sunday and Monday: Sunday, Brad and I served in the church nursery. We had a great morning and always enjoy our time with the babies! We spent the rest of Sunday and our day off on Monday doing household projects. Part of the fun of being newlyweds and owning a home is all of the projects we get to do together. Luckily, we both enjoy doing house projects and working together!

It was a perfect Birthday weekend. I am so blessed and so thankful to my friends and family that helped make it so special! I am one lucky girl!!
