Oktoberfest!

Oh Cedar Falls...we love you! Our sweet little town had their annual Oktoberfest at Gateway Park in downtown Cedar Falls this past weekend. This is year 3 of Oktoberfest! Brad and I had seen the signs previously and had forgotten about it, but thankfully we were reminded of it when one of my friends posted a picture from Friday night.

We headed to downtown around 6:30 Saturday night. Some of our friends were going to meet us there later! We walked around, enjoyed the food, had a few drinks, and listened to the bands. Our friends showed up around 7:30, so we enjoyed the food, had a few drinks, and enjoyed the bands and some good old German games, i.e. Hammerschlagen.

Hammerschlagen: Players places their nail firmly into a tree stump. The each player (one at a time) taps the stump to the right on the nail, the left of the nail, and then tires to hit the nail with a hammer one time. Each player continues to hit their nail until the nail is completely embedded in the stump. Surprisingly hard and hilarious! The boys played and most of the girls watched, laughed, and cheered our men on. Great!

Overall, we approve! Can't wait till next year!
