Bumpdate ~ Week 19

These weeks really are flying by. I'm sure the buzz of the Holidays is making the days go by much quicker! Week 19. Eek! Next week we have our 20 week appointment to check out every tiny little piece of Baby as well as find out what gender Baby is!! I am counting down the minutes/hours/days till we can start calling our Baby "he" or "she." So exciting!! That also means, we're only a week or so away from our Gender Reveal Party! Friends and family should all have invites by now and I am busy planning away! We can't wait to "place our bets" and celebrate with the people we love!

Knowing Baby's gender also means we get to start working on the nursery. I know exactly what I will do for a girl nursery or a boy nursery. Yet another thing I can't wait for! Then comes the planning, the nesting, the showers, the stocking up of supplies, clothes, and other baby "stuff." My heart is so full of happiness!

Along with our upcoming 20 week appointment excitement, there's always some worry in there for me. I can feel Baby moving, I feel great, but there's always the worry that something may be wrong. Being able to utilize the technology that we have today to see our Baby and make sure he/she is developing correctly puts my mind at ease...a little. I know Baby is in God's hands and no matter what, God will carry us through this journey. It's also scary knowing that we're almost half-way through this pregnancy! I love carrying our little one and knowing that Baby is safe inside my belly. I get to be the main caregiver right now, but I really am looking forward to seeing the hubs in action as a Daddy!! and I know he is as excited as well! You should see him...it's precious.
  • Week 19
  • Baby is the size of a : grapefruit (from crown to rump)
  • Weight :  8.47  oz. / Length :  6.1  in. (from crown to rump)
  • Baby's sensory developing is "exploding" right now! Baby is developing smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research shows that Baby can even discern my voice from others. Baby's arms and legs are the right proportion, the kidneys are making urine (weird!), and hair on his/her scalp is starting to sprout!

Gender: Next week people. We get to find out NEXT WEEK!!

Weight Gain: I've stopped weighing myself since my tummy has "just popped out there" (as the hubs said the other day) and I've been eating very healthy and working out. It's probably around 10-12 pounds I would guess.

How I Feel: I'm feeling pretty well, other than feeling tired (mostly due to lack of sleep). I don't feel sick at all, I am loving not having any headaches, and I'm pretty much always in a very happy/content mood!
  • Stretch marks: None. Let's keep this up. Thank you cocoa butter and tummy butter!
  • Belly button: Seriously, about to pop out.
  • Other: Nothing that I can think of.
Clothing: The same - maternity clothes. I had to switch to maternity pants at 13 weeks for work pants. My work pants were just was not working anymore. I love Gap and Motherhood maternity dress pants. I do have one pair of Old Navy dress pants that are a thicker material and I love those as well. I have been using Zulilly and coupons to shop for maternity clothes. It's a little ridiculous how expensive they are! and when you go from a size 0/2 to pregnant, you need a lot of clothes pretty fast. Boo.

Cravings: Cheese and crackers have been a favorite this week, but I have been avoiding that craving since cheese is pretty fatty and crackers are not the best!

Food Aversions: None.

Movement: It is amazing how I went from feeling nothing last week and panicking, to feeling a ton this week! On Sunday while we were driving, I happened to have my hand resting on my belly and all of a sudden I felt about 5-6 kicks/punches! It was awesome! I felt Baby on the inside and the outside. I tried to get Brad's hand on my belly to feel, but it stopped. Next time! I am noticing Baby more and more throughout the day too, even while I am teaching. I am loving it!!

Sleep: Now that I have started sleeping with a pillow under my belly and in between my legs, I have been back to sleeping like a baby...all night long! I need to get one of those pregnancy body pillows to get even more comfy!

Best Moment This Week: Feeling baby so much! I can't get enough of it!

Worst Moment This Week: Nothing bad...

Looking Forward to: Seeing our sweet little Baby at our 20 week appointment!! Finding out what gender Baby is and our Gender Reveal Party!

What I Miss: Running!! I have been running on the treadmill, but I can't run for long extended periods of time. I miss my loooong runs. I always felt so great afterwards and it was always a major stress reliever for me!

Pregnancy Thoughts this Week:
  • I feel fairly ready for Baby to get here. I mean, not "ready" but maybe more ready than most? I worked in an infant room for 5 years, I work with kids, I feel totally comfortable around newborns/babies, I nannied for a 4, 2, and infant for a year, and I studies this age in college. Hopefully, all that "pre-training" will help me out when Baby arrives! At least, that's what I keep telling myself...
  • We've been talking a lot about how we're going to "rear" this baby. Both of us have a strong faith foundation and we want our Baby raised in church and loving Jesus. Along with that, we want our Baby to eat healthy, have plenty of manners (somehow, I see more and more kids without them), and so much more. We are talking about all of this stuff now so we don't argue over it later. I'm sure there will plenty more that we will disagree about in the future though.
  • Being an Early Childhood major (birth-3rd grade), I am trying really hard not to be over the top when it comes to Baby's development. I've read waaaay to much about the use of technology under 2 (bad idea-it disrupts brain development and over stimulates), healthy diets (we eat clean, and so will our kids), and I've read and studied tons about motor development and cognitive development. All that is just the start of my list. Poor kid.
Diet: Now that we're home, clean eating went much better this week and my body feels back to normal. I don't know how everyone eats crap all week. It makes my whole body feel terrible! I am 100% dedicated and a believe in clean eating. Chemicals, toxins, fats, sugars on a daily basis?...gross.

Exercise: I am weight lifting 4-5 times a week and doing about 30-45 minutes of cardio (running, walking, elliptical) 5-6 times a week. I am taking Mondays off as a rest day since I work all day and then have class from 5-10 pm! I am lifting one muscle group per day still and I feel so much better. I'm following the LiveFit Training program, but modifying it for my pregnancy. Don't worry Momma, I am not lifting near as heavy as I used to, but I am lifting!!
