Mother's Day Weekend 2015

On Thursday afternoon I picked up little man from daycare and received this. Isn't it cute? Thanks for doing this with little man Miss Karyn! I almost forgot that I get to celebrate Mother's Day weekend too! It's still new for me.

On Friday, we started out Mother's Day weekend by driving down to the Quad Cities to be with Mama B and all of the other mama's in the family. We spent the night hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Bishop, Beth, Gene, and Cal. Those little guys are so cute!

On Saturday, the ladies and the babies went garage saling. We got some pretty good stuff, like Dayton's little tikes slide - for $3. Awesome. After garage sales we hung out at the grandparents house had lunch, took naps, and then everyone started arriving for the Mother's Day cookout. Most all of the family was there and it was so nice to see everyone and catch up! Even baby Madden was there. This was my first time meeting him and I loved on him as much as I could. What a doll baby! The Quad Cities Air Show was also going on and the Bishop's house is in a great spot for plane sightings. Karen got some awesome photos of the planes!

Karen took a few pictures for us of the day (thanks Karen) and I asked her to take a few pictures of me and Dayton because somehow, I never get pictures on actual holidays. Usually, I'm too busy chasing around my toddler or socializing! Thanks for the pictures Karen!

We drove back home Saturday night so that we could be at church on Sunday morning and enjoy our own day at home for Mother's Day. Since I'm a mama, I was up bright and early on Sunday morning to start getting everyone ready for church. Our service was very nice and then we were off to our normal Sunday routines. Dayton and the hubs got me an adorable Willow Tree figurine of a mama rocking her baby boy and a gift card to Scheels (good job hubby!).

About half way through the day, I started to get irritated. It was mother's day and I was meal prepping, cleaning, and doing everything else I needed to get done for the week. We had been gone Friday and Saturday, so that left me with Sunday to do everything for the upcoming week while the hubs was downstairs working on the basement and Dayton was napping. And I got annoyed. Um, hello! Don't I get to celebrate mother's day too?! Isn't mother's day supposed to be full of honoring my motherhood, relaxing, and being pampered? I was getting a little sour (in my mind) about it.

Then it hit me. I am celebrating mother's day because I'm doing all of my mama things. I'm grocery shopping for my family, keeping our house neat and today for my family, cooking and prepping all of our weeks meals for my family, and just getting stuff done for my family. And that was that. I get to do all of those things because I am lucky enough to be a mama. Would I have loved to lay around all day? Um, yea. Who wouldn't? But as soon as I realized that everything I was doing is a privilege, it changed my whole day. After struggling with infertility and being anxious about what the future may hold for our family, I remind myself every single day that I get to be a mom. And that's all that matters. I am so very very lucky to be called mama!

Speaking of Mamas, Happy Mother's Day to MY mama. You're my rock mama. I love you and miss you!! Thank you for sending me this picture of us! It's my favorite now too.
