A few months ago, I finally figured out who sponsors the races in our area and signed up for their email list! Well, one day I got an email about an upcoming race called the "Furry 5K." The race was sponsored and run by the animal shelter here in town, the Cedar bend Humane Society. We actually adopted Abe from them last November, so we HAD to run in this race and support the Humane Society. I told Brad's sister about it, since they have 2 dogs as well and her and her husband signed up for it to!
Saturday, Beth and Gene drove up and stayed with us. Now if you're thinking about it, you're thinking correctly. Yep, we had 4 dogs in our house Saturday and Sunday! They all get along really well, so it was lots of fun to have everyone there! Beth and Gene's dogs are Gracie and Lexie. So cute!
The race was at 7:30 am on Sunday morning at Big Woods Lake Park, so we were up pretty early. After a little confusion on the location of the race Start, we finally found it, parked, and hurried to get in the line. There were TONS of dogs there, as was to be expected. There were all kinds of dogs there too! We got in the back of the line, so we had to run through about 10 minutes of walkers and dogs. Thaaaaat was fun. Well, it was interesting. Once we finally got around all of the walkers, we enjoyed the gorgeous run around Big Woods Lake. The weather was cool, but once we got to running, we were fine! We actually ran 2 laps around the lake. It was so pretty and I am looking forward to going out there with Abe and running around some more! Yay pups! We had lots of fun and I'm so glad all 8 of us signed up and ran the race!
P.S. ~ Abe and I finished first in our little group ;) That's my boy!
After I posted this, the Cedar bend Humane Society added TONS of pictures from the race onto Picasa! I found a bunch of us, and hopefully, they will add more soon! We got a few "action shots!"
