November Hunting

Oh hunting. Once the fall comes, the hubs pretty much eats, sleeps, and breathes hunting - but not in a bad way. We planned the weekends that we would head down to camp together or just Brad alone. One weekend, the hubs and I were able to get away together, alone, for the weekend while mom and dad Bishop watched Dayton. It was nice to get away to camp and just spend some time together doing something that we love! Bow season is much longer than the others, so the hubs and I both bow hunted this weekend.

It was cold, but wasn't too horrible. We saw some deer, but not as many as we were hoping. Saturday morning we hunted together in a double stand and saw a few does, but none of them came close enough. Saturday night we hunted separate stands. Brad saw about eight deer and I saw three, but none of mine came anywhere close. Bummer! Sunday morning, we hunted at one of our favorite double stands. We didn't see anything almost all morning and then all of a sudden, two does came trotting through the woods. I stood up and got my bow ready while the hubs did the same. We were kind of back to back so we both had opposite angels. At this point, I was shivering so badly because I was so cold and it made it pretty hard to draw my bow. I made a rookie mistake and didn't have my clip completely secure on my release. An arrow slipped through and shot about 20 yards away. Ugh. Lame. Brad ended up getting a shot at one of the does. She ran off and after a few minutes, we got out of the tree stand to track her. We found her about 50 yards away in the woods. She was dead. Good shot hon! We did our thing and brought her back to the camp to get the meat.

Although I didn't get anything, I'd say it was a successful weekend! Good shot hon!
