Dayton's BFF

At daycare, Dayton has a best friend. Her name is Baylea and she is three years old. These two kiddos. They crack me up!! Our daycare provider, Miss Karyn sent me some pictures of the two friends. She tells me that they play together all day! Adorable. They even start giggling as soon as they see each other. In the mornings, when I drop Dayton off he looks to find Baylea. As soon as he does, he starts smiling and giggling. It is so cute! When Dayton was out sick all week, Baylea told Miss Karyn that she missed him so much and that "Dayton is my best friend." *awwwww*

Miss Karyn said she was happy to catch them playing together "in the light." Most of time, they are playing hide and seek under the table! So cute!!

Dayton ~ 10 Months

My sweet Baby Dayton,

How are you ten months old already? If I'm being honest, mama has been a little emotional lately. After I get ready in the mornings, I go to your room to get you out of your crib and nurse you. You're usually awake and are standing up or playing while you wait. You don't cry or fuss. I love walking in your room and watching a smile hit your face. You are just so sweet. Each morning, while I nurse you I can't help but think about how fast you are growing up. It makes me sad, but happy at the same time. I can't believe we're only a few short weeks away from you turning one year old. This mama is not ready for that!

Each day that goes by, I love you more and more. I cannot believe how sweet you are. You honestly, are the happiest baby. Some days, I can't even believe it. Don't get me wrong you have your moments, but 95% of the time you are one happy little guy. I love watching your personality come out and I love watching you play with daddy and me. You're a funny little guy. I think you're going to be a pretty serious kid (kind of like your dad), but you definitely have a silly side. Your laugh. There is nothing better. You love playing with your daddy. He can make you laugh more than anyone else. You like to "fly" with daddy, wrestle, get thrown into the air or "dropped", and you love to crawl all over us. You're definitely a boy! Some of your favorite toys are balls and kitchen utensils. You play with those while mama is cooking.

I love you baby boy. More than anything in the world. My heart is full.

Love,
Mama

Size: 23 lb

Hair: Dark brown - you do not have much hair, but the sides are getting longer and are starting to curl out a little bit. I can't decide if I should trim the hair over your ear or just let it be. I will probably do the latter since I love little boys with long floppy hair.

Eyes: Dark brown.

Teeth: You have 6 teeth - 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. I think you're working on 2 more teeth on the bottom.

Food: You love food. I mean, you really love to eat. Right now you are eating mostly real food, but we still give you some baby food at each meal to supplement what you are eating and to make sure you are getting the nutrition that you need. Right now, we have chosen to only feed you organic foods. This is a little more expensive, but both daddy and I believe in the value of importance of feeding you non-processed foods.

Your schedule is-
7 am - nurse
8 am - 2 tsp oatmeal, 1 serving of fruit, 1 egg white, sippy cup of breast milk
9:30 am - snack and sippy cup of breast milk
11:30 am - 1 serving protein, veggie, and fruit, sippy cup of breast milk
12:15 pm - sippy cup of milk
3:30 pm - snack and sippy cup of breast milk
5:45 pm - 1 serving protein, veggie, and fruit, sippy cup of breast milk
7 pm - nurse

You eat all of your fruits and veggies, but you don't adore sweet potatoes. Some of your favorites are string cheese, noodles and sauce, mac and cheese, chicken, and all fruits. You prefer to eat finger foods, but still eat baby food well. You like to take bites of whatever mama and daddy are eating.

Sleep: You are still a great sleeper, still! You go to bed around 7 pm and don't wake up until around 7 am. You are a solid 12 hour sleeper! You usually take a 2-3 (or more) hour nap in the afternoon. No complaints here! You are definitely a sleepy guy, just like your daddy.

Clothes: You are wearing 12-18 month clothes.

Words: So far you do not say any words. However, you talk a lot. And you laugh a lot. You're a funny kiddo.

Development/Activity: You are an active little baby. You crawl (quite quickly) all over the place, pull up and stand on everything, "cruise" from piece to piece of furniture, walk with your walker, and now you are trying to climb up onto and over things. It's just a matter of time until you are walking!

Temperament: You are happy, easy going, content, and a smiley little guy. I could not have asked for a more perfect baby. It's not just me who thinks this. Almost everyone comments on how happy you are. I know I think you're perfect, but you really are a sweet guy.

Likes: You like car rides, talking, playing with balls, playing on your play table, walking around the house with your walker, wrestling and crawling on daddy and I, reading books, hanging out in the carrier, playing in the water, baths, your pups, eating, sleeping, and playing with your friends.

Dislikes: You do not like getting your diaper or your clothes changed. You fuss at us. And you really don't like getting towel dried and getting lotioned up after your baths.

Small Moments: Your hugs. Recently, you have been giving bear hugs. When I pick you up after getting you ready in the morning, you hug me, You wrap your little arms around my neck and squeeze. You do the same when I drop you off at daycare, pick you up from daycare, get you out of the car, and when you're sleepy. It is just the sweetest thing. You hug daddy and Miss Karyn too. It's just so sweet. When you hug so tight, I hug you tight right back. I could stay in that spot for the rest of my life. Please don't stop giving me squeezy hugs baby boy. I adore them.

We're still here...

Oh hey blog land...it's been a while! Like 3 months a while. Whoops! To state the obvious, blogging has been the last thing on my list at this point in time. Other things like teaching full time, being a mama, being a wife, and all the other craziness of our busy lives has kind of taken over most of my time.

I am home with my sick lil' bit today and he's napping, so I'm going to start working on catching up on this little blog of mine. I'm going to post the most recent stuff worst and then work my way backwards. Just an fyi for those family members and friends that keep on our lives through our blog!

So, the latest? Sickness has struck the Bishop household again. My poor baby. Last week, Dayton was sent home from daycare on Wednesday around 11:30 am with a 100.5 fever. He was acting fine, but since his daycare s very strict about sickness he had to go home. This also meant he had to be home on Thursday. Ugh. Brad picked him up on Wednesday and I stayed home with him on Thursday. Little man and I had a fun day just hanging out at the house and cuddling. He acted fine Friday and Saturday, but Saturday night his cough started again. We were at the grandparents over the weekend, and as we drove home on Sunday it was clear that Dayton was not feeling well. Sunday night he spiked another fever and his cough was out of control.

Thursday at home with Mama  |  Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa's house
Brad stayed home with the babe on Monday and took him to the doctor. What did he have this time you ask? Fifth disease or slapped cheek. Yep, apparently there's a major outbreak of it right now in our area. Symptoms? Mild fever, cold symptoms then a few days later a rash breaks out on the face. It looks like his cheeks have been slapped. In a few days his fever will go away and the rash will move down to his arms and legs. It's fairly harmless. Poor baby is pretty miserable though.

This mama just wants her baby to feel better. Hopefully, that will happen soon. Not gonna lie, I do love being home with my cuddly little boy.

Valentine's Day with FGL

A few months ago,  saw that Florida Georgia Line was going to be in Moline. Um, yes please!! Brad got tickets for us and our friends, so the double date was planned for Valentin's Day. We drove down to the QC's Saturday afternoon, spent some time with the grandparents, went to dinner, got ready and then the four of us left for the concert!

The concert was amazing. We missed the first opening act, but we did arrive on time for Thomas Rhett! Love. Then out came Florida Georgia Line. They were so full of energy, passionate about their music, and put on a fantastic show! We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. Even the throwback to Forgot about Dre performed by FGL. Perfect. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for babysitting so us kids could get out of the house!

Iowa State Basketball

This weekend we headed down to Ames with our good friends Kate and Ryan to go to the Iowa State vs. TCU basketball game. This was Dayton's first basketball game! We left early so that we could have lunch at Hickory Park first, then off to the game we went. Dayton had a lot of fun looking around and watching everything that was going on. We were on the last row of the stands, so it got a little toasty up there and little by little we stripped Dayton down to just his shirt. Dayton was  little squirmy at first, so Kate and I took him on a walk around the arena. I think he did pretty well up overall since he didn't fuss! Iowa State ended up winning 83-66! Whoohoo!

hello!
