Home. Every time we plan a visit, I have a mental countdown going on until it's time to hit the road. Since Brad and I both have a winter break, it makes perfect sense for us to go down to South Carolina for Christmas. Usually, we try to get down there for about a week.
This year, the school calendar was a little frustrating. The week of Christmas, we had to work on Monday and Tuesday. That meant we couldn't leave until Tuesday after I got off work. But, that's exactly what we did. As soon as I got off work, I went home, we packed the car, and off we went! The hubs and I decided to drive as far as we could Tuesday night. We got to our normal stop outside of Indianapolis around 1 am (2 am after the time change). Wednesday morning we slept a bit and then we were up and at it again. We pulled into Greenville around dinner time and boy were we glad to finally be there!!

Thursday was Christmas! We opened presents and ate a lot of good food. Sounds about perfect to me! I don't think I will ever get tired of watching out little man open presents, play with his grandparents and aunt, and just be his happy little self. Christmas with a kid is better than I ever could have imagined it. It's even better surrounded by family. The post about Christmas day is
here.
Friday, the hubs and I wanted to hit the after Christmas sales and get a little shopping done, so off to Gaffney we all went! Gaffney is a town about 45 minutes away from Greenville that has some great outlet malls. We always find good stuff there, especially at the Nike outlet, so it's one of the places that we like to visit. Everyone decided to take the trip with us, so we made a day out of it. Dayton had a pretty good time!
The rest of our trip we enjoyed visiting our favorite places in Greenville, a little shopping, a lot of eating out - hello Tupelo Honey, tons of quality family time, and Brad and I even got a date night at "our place," Tsunami (it's where we went on our first date!). Here are a few pictures from the rest of our time back home.
Dayton's new swing. Clearly he loved it. And I mean, come on, this weather.
There was a lot of eating out, a lot of family time, a lot of cuddles, and a lo of laughs.
Visit to Cabelas and DellaVenturas!
I could not ask for more. We are so blessed! The trip home went well. We left Tuesday morning, stopped at Brad's parents house, and ended driving the rest of the way. We pulled into our driveway around 2 am. We were exhausted, but Dayton had done well and it's just easier to drive while he is sleeping! Home, safe and sound.
